It’s Time for Recorders! (submitted by Mrs. Hudman)
Starting on September 8th Mrs. Hudman will have Recorders
for sale at school for 3rd-8th grade students. The price is $5.00. All students need to have their recorder by Thursday September 30th. Please have your child label their recorder
so if it gets lost at school I will know who it belongs to. Thank you so much.
TLC Parent Board
The first TLC Parent Board meeting will be held this Thursday, September 2 at 3:00 p.m. The items on the agenda will include the Graham County Fair, TLC shirts, new after school activities, and more. If you signed up to help with the fair activities, please attend this important meeting. ALL PARENTS are encouraged to attend the parent board meetings.
TLC Open House
Our annual Open House will be held on Thursday, September 9 at 4:00pm. It will be an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and learn classroom procedures. Each teacher will make two presentations, 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. This is to accommodate families with children in more than one classroom. The kindergarten presentation will be at 12:00 p.m. Please make plans to attend this special event!
Library Wish List
There are several books in the latest Scholastic Book flyer that would be great additions to the TLC Library. If you would like to purchase one or more for our library, please contact Mrs. Hart.
String Program (submitted by Frank Hughes)
This year each student will need a good violin, a shoulder rest, and three music books to work out of, Essential Elements 2000, Suzuki Violin, and Easiest Fiddle Tunes. The books should be available from Mr. Hughes this week. They will be discounted 15% to the students, which is a savings of about $2 per book.
The program will be a lot of fun this year, but encourage your student to play music at home. Their success depends on it. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Hughes at 428-1728.
Physical Education
All classrooms have physical education twice each week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students must wear athletic shoes and socks for PE. The 5th-8th students may also bring appropriate shorts and t-shirts to wear during PE class. Sun screen, hats, and water bottles are also recommended.
Kitchen Donations
Parents, thank you for all your donations. During August, we are asking families with last names beginning with A-E to donate. Of course, anyone can drop off items at any time! The items we currently need are listed below. If you can donate something, please drop it off in the office anytime. Thank you!

White Tiger Spirit Days
The White Tiger T-Shirt Contest has begun. The chart shows the percentages of students who wore their TLC shirts. The 7th/8th classroom is in first place with 56%, and the 3rd/4th classroom is second with 48%.
There will be prizes for each month’s winning classroom, and a special party for the winning classroom for the entire year. Every Wednesday is TLC Spirit Day, so wear your TLC shirt to show your school spirit.
After School Learning Lab
TLC’s After School Learning Lab has now begun. Don’t be surprised if your child calls to say he/she has Learning Lab. Please honor your policy contract by faithfully supporting your child and Learning Lab.
TLC Shirt Orders
There was a TLC shirt order form included in the registration packet. Many of you ordered the long-sleeved teal shirt. Unfortunately, teal is not available in long sleeves. Therefore, we had to change the color of the long-sleeved shirt to purple. If you do not want a purple shirt, you may change your order to a short sleeve shirt or cancel the order. A revised order form was sent home today. We have also added the option of ordering a hoodie sweatshirt in black. To make any changes to your order, please use the revised order form or contact Becky Clark at parentboard@tlctigers.com. Sorry for any inconvenience.
